2. Establish Quorum
3. Introduce Committee Chairpersons
4. Introduction of guests: Welcome. After the introductions, we respectfully ask that guests hold their comments until the end of our meeting. Only board members may talk while we have discussions. Ask each guest for their snail mail or email address so they may receive additional information.

Motion: To approve June 9, 2012 ACA WSO Teleconference minutes (Joan)
: To approve the minutes of the Special Teleconference held on June 16, 2012 (Joan)

New Business:

Motion # 1: To suspend phone bridge meetings until such time that a group conscience determines (or not) that they should reconvene. (Phyllis, Jeneane, Scott)

Background: More phone bridge complaints about non-compliance with Traditions continue to come in. Consider closing down phone meetings because they have become unsafe and unwieldly. 6/23/12 and 7/5/12 complaints received in email.

Motion #2: To authorize the uploading the e-BRB on e-retailers with DRM at $9.99. (Larry)

Background: We have received the final BRB in the e-pub format (Barnes & Noble) and should receive the final Mobi format (Amazon) very soon. We have exchanged many e-mails about the e-BRB concerning having it for sale from our website, price points, special programs, and Tradition issues.

Information previously provided in an email by Larry.

DRM.

The general consensus was that the cost of listing it on our website with DRM would be prohibitive We also seem to be of the opinion that the value of the revenue stream from the BRB may be compromised were we to place the e-BRB on our site without some copyright and copying protection.

It is our general sense that we want to try to place it in the market with the DRM that e-retailers provide for free when they list the books.

Borrowing

We also reviewed and seemed to agree that we wanted to decline to participate in any "special programs" such as KDP Select that would allow folks to borrow the book for free.

Traditions

We also shared emails concerning the Traditions and seem to believe that the e-retailers fall into the same category as using the USPS to deliver books or a printer in printing the book. That is, it is a service that is provided for which we pay a specific price. We considered and approved a strongly worded disclaimer (below) so that purchasers would not be confused about our non-affiliation with the e-retailer or any other authors or products they may try to cross sell.

DISCLAIMER: This is the official ACA Fellowship Text that is Adult Children of Alcoholics World Service Organization (ACA WSO) Conference Approved Literature.

Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families (ACA) is an independent 12 Step and 12 Tradition anonymous program. ACA's Tenth Tradition states that ACA has no opinion on outside issues; hence the ACA name ought never be drawn into public controversy. ACA's Sixth Tradition states that ACA ought never endorse, finance or lend the ACA name to any related facility or outside enterprise (or books/authors), lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.

Thus, any suggestions of other authors or books (e.g., "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought") made on this website are solely those of the online retailer. ACA World Service Organization expressly disclaims any association with any authors or books, or with any online retailer and their affiliates.

Summary

Thus, we think it would be best to list the books for sale on e-retailers, e.g., B&N and Amazon, with a strongly worded disclaimer (that was previously reviewed and approved by the Board).

Motion# 3: To Approve the expenditure of $850 for the layout of the Danish BRB (Larry)
Background. The Danes have been working on this for a while. Per our Translation Agreement, we agree to oversee and pay for the layout of translated ACA Literature to assure that the BRB appears in the same form as our original BRB.

Motion #4: To approve the following expenditures: (1) Japanese "ACA Is...*" tri-fold reviewed by Tamp Bay. Cost is $55. (2) Hebrew "ACA Is...*" tri-fold needs to be verified ($229) and formatted ($55)
Background: As a part of the translation effort and in advancing our primary purpose world wide, we have received from the Japanese ACAs the "ACA Is..." tri-fold that must be verified and formatted for eventual dissemination.

Likewise the Literature Committee received a Hebrew version of the "ACA Is..." tri-fold which needs to be (a) verified and (B) formatted for eventual dissemination.

**See separate attachments.

Motion #5: Motion to approve the expenditure of $8 to have the Meeting trifold formatted.
Background: This Trifold was presented at the ABC by Trustee Karen and is approved for dissemination since it is a repackaging of existing approved literature. The formatting has changed to allow the space where groups can use a rubber stamp to insert their groups information on the front panel.

Motion #6: To purchase up to two new computers for the office. Costs would be around $500 each
Background: The office currently has one relatively new computer and one old laptop (not suitable for upgrade). With the ever increasing orders and other tasks being done by the office, we need to support them with current equipment. I see this as a relatively cheap investment to support those growing requirements.

ITEM A. QUESTION: Can the AA paragraph shown at the end of the ACA Promises be deleted from the Promises read at the group meeting? This paragraph from the AA Big Book is not shown with the ACA Promises in the Fellowship text. I asked Omer about it earlier this summer and he said he didn't know how that paragraph got connected to the ACA promises, and as far as he knew, it was always there. (Joan)

Old Business: (5 minutes each item):

1. Publishing the ComLine. We can either continue or discontinue. It hasn't been published for quite a while.

Previously supplied information:
Questions asked were: should the ComLine be continued, should it be available online only? Omer suggested publishing it quarterly and use the Treasurer's reports in it along with an article or two. Keep it simple, summarize, simplify. Scott also reported there is still interest in ordering the ComLine, but for now we should not accept any orders from the paper order form. Larry wants to put it on hold until we get sufficient articles for publication. Joan suggested keeping it in a regular pattern of production (i.e. 90 days) and maybe pull paragraphs from the Big Red Book to supplement any need for material. Larry clarification on including monthly reports: 7th Tradition reports, and articles. Jeneane noted that we are not distributing/publishing the ComLine at all at this time.

GUESTS Comments:

Closing:
1. Announcements - events, retreats, etc.
2. Reminders: The next teleconference will be September 8, 2012.
3. Serenity Prayer
